News in Brief

It could just be a coincidence …

Christopher Harborne became the biggest donor to a political party when he filled Reform UK’s coffers with £9 million in August. And it appears he may have got what he paid for.

Having previously funded Farage’s attendance at Donald Trump’s second inauguration and donated more than £13 million to his Brexit Party, Harborne has been a key investor in crypto firm Tether, dealing in Stablecoins.

But, as Adam Bienkov was the first to exclusively report, Farage failed to mention this, or that Harborne was a Reform donor, when he promoted the crypto industry – and Tether specifically – on LBC in September: the day after Bloomberg reported that the El Salvador-based firm was seeking to raise up to $20 billion to value it at about $500 billion.
