— Reader funded since 2019
Seven Years of Byline Times
Stephen Colegrave and Peter Jukes took over Byline.com ten years ago, and three years later, with Hardeep Matharu, launched a new newspaper called Byline Times on 31 March 2019.
Seven years on, we print over 30,000 copies a month, have millions of online readers, and compete with historic titles like the New Statesman (100 years old) and The Spectator (250 years old) in copies sold on the newsstands per issue.
It’s been an incredible journey, all thanks to our readers. You have paid for every exclusive, every investigation that has sent crony contract beneficiaries to their lawyers, made the Russian Government sanction us, brought media miscreants to book and helped ensure important changes in the law to defend democracy.
All thanks to you.

Banned by Reform UK
→ Nowhere else will you find in-depth investigations of the links between Nigel Farage, Russia and his top aide Nathan Gill, or his relationship with Steve Bannon, as revealed in the Epstein Files

Common questions
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. You can cancel, suspend, or manage your subscription at any time from your account. We offer refunds within 30 days of your subscription start date. Our subscriptions auto-renew by default — you’ll be notified before renewal.
How is my payment handled?
All payments are processed by Stripe, a well-established payment gateway. Byline Times never receives or stores your card details. We accept debit card, credit card, direct debit, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
When does the print edition arrive?
The print edition is dispatched mid-month. UK delivery is typically 2–4 working days after dispatch. European and international subscribers should allow an additional 5–10 working days.
What does Byline Times cover that others don’t?
Byline Times focuses on press ownership and accountability, political finance, democratic institutions, and the stories that proprietor-owned newspapers have structural reasons not to tell. Our reporters have no proprietor to protect and no advertiser relationships to manage.
