What Lies Ahead for Labour with Zack Polanski’s New ‘Anti-Establishment’ Threat from the Left?

Adam Bienkov speaks to Labour and Green Party insiders about how the Starmer Government’s strategy has helped create a potentially new oppositional force to both itself and Reform UK

For years, the Greens have been the dog that hasn’t barked in British politics. Despite their sister parties topping polls and even entering government in other parts of Europe, the Green Party of England and Wales has struggled to break through in a political system dominated by the two major parties.

That now, finally, appears to be changing.

According to the latest national polling averages, the Greens are now level – if not even slightly ahead of – Labour on 16%, with some pollsters suggesting that they could soon overtake Keir Starmer’s party as the most popular electoral force on the left of British politics.

Much of the credit for this transformation has been given to the Greens’ energetic new leader, Zack Polanski.
