In the space of a few days at the start of the year, Donald Trump blew up what remained of the post-war international order.

Just as his ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs announced last April marked the end of the economic world as we knew it, his decision to launch a military strike on Venezuela and kidnap President Nicolás Maduro was the geopolitical equivalent.

He has since threatened further military action against Greenland, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, and Iran.
