The EU’s Farage Clause’ Shows Reform UK’s Power

Brexit has made the UK poorer and now its main architect’s growing presence in our politics is making the country more vulnerable to harm, writes Chris Grey

The EU is reportedly seeking a so-called Farage Clause in its Brexit reset negotiations with the UK. Under the proposal, Britain would be forced to hand over compensation to the European Union if a future UK government reneges on any deal struck now by Keir Starmer.

The development comes some eight months after the last UK-EU summit, which unveiled the first details of this ‘reset’ in relations promised by the Labour Government.

Despite the impression sometimes given by ministers, this was not, in itself, the reset agreement.
