Byline Times is asking for your support to advance the frontline of investigative journalism.
We’ve set a crowdfunding target of £20k to take on Nafeez Ahmed – systems theorist, author, and award-winning investigative journalist – as the head of an incisive new investigations unit.
Investigations have always been a crucial part of what we do. From PPE Medpro and the COVID procurement scandal to Dan Wootton, we’ve long punched above our weight, igniting national media conversations and prompting action from regulatory officials both in Britain and abroad.
Now, we want to put investigations at the very heart of Byline Times. At a time of vast disillusionment and mounting distrust – when truth is increasingly difficult to come by – exposing powerful people and organisations has never been more critical.
In addition to expanding our longstanding reporting and analysis on Britain’s monopoly media and our existing #ReformUncovered project, your contributions will allow us to open up entirely new, pivotal avenues of investigation that no other newspapers are looking at.
No stone will be left unturned. Silicon Valley oligarchs, AI, and the algorithms that drive our politics. The US-centred dark influence networks lurking beneath the surface of our politics and the Tufton Street think-tanks that drive their agendas. Nafeez Ahmed is an ideal candidate to head up a prescient, methodical, and truly unique investigations unit. The best-selling author of seven books, including Alt-Reich: The Network War to Destroy the West from Within and A User’s Guide to the Crisis of Civilisation, Dr. Ahmed predicted the meteoric rise of the far-right more than fifteen years ago.
His work has been officially used in the 9/11 commission, the London bombings coroner’s inquest and cited in the United States Congressional Record, as well as in the UK House of Commons and House of Lords.
Your donations will enable us to fund Nafeez Ahmed’s crucial new role at Byline Times, as well as take on more investigative journalists (including Olly Haynes, Iain Overton, Max Colbert and others) and resources to build a team of seasoned, dedicated investigators. We’ll also use your contributions to promote and share these investigations, exposing the public to pressing problems that other papers can’t (or won’t) report on.
