Farage’s Staggering Side Hustles

The Reform UK MP has 14 other employers apart from his constituents in Clacton on Sea – and it’s all above board, according to the rules. Olly Haynes reports

Nigel Farage has spent more than 1,113 hours – or 140 working days – on his various other jobs since being elected to Parliament in July 2024.

During the same time period, the Reform UK Leader, who is the MP for Clacton on Sea, has spent considerably less time addressing Parliament compared with other party leaders.

By totalling Farage’s own estimates in the MPs’ register of interests, Byline Times can reveal that the GB News presenter has spent 140 working days working on projects related to his other jobs – spread across 14 employers. This analysis excludes Farage’s contributions to the Telegraph, which are recorded differently.

The majority of this additional work – more than 800 hours – was for three private companies: broadcaster GB News; custom video message service Cameo; and Elon Musk’s social media platform X, from which Farage receives regular payouts through its creator programme – a set of monetisation tools designed to allow content creators to earn money based on user engagement.
