We are all going to hell in a handcart. There is no need for elaboration: it’s obvious. So what do you do?
You can express your feelings when you vote, and that is a fine and noble thing. But even the most ardent democrat has to concede that conventional representative democracy is not rising well to the challenges we face.
You also have your power as a consumer, but though our little personal boycotts may make us feel better – no bad thing – they don’t make much difference.
