‘Lawless Britain’
A Racist Myth that has Engulfed the Media and Political Right
The politicians, news outlets, and commentators linking migration to ‘rising’ crime rates is fuelling something much more dangerous than ‘legitimate concerns’, writes Adam Bienkov
Violent crime has been falling dramatically for decades. Brits are now far less likely to be attacked, robbed, or killed than they ever were when the majority of our politicians came of age in the 1990s.
Social and educational changes, improved surveillance technology, and reduced drug and alcohol use have all contributed to our streets becoming safer.
But if you spend any amount of time reading, watching, or listening to the media, you could be forgiven for feeling too frightened to leave your house.
