West Northamptonshire Council Bans All Mentions of Climate Change – While Continuing to Take Government’s Green Funds
Opposition politicians at the Reform UK-run council are pointing to the party’s fossil fuel funding. Josiah Mortimer reports
The Reform UK-run West Northamptonshire Council is removing all written references to climate change and net zero – while continuing to take government cash for green projects.
The council announced in the Telegraph that it would be scrapping its net zero targets, two hours before it was voted on.
An email from the council’s chief executive on 17 July said its new approach would include “removing references to ‘net zero’ and referring to ‘environmental impact’ instead of ‘climate impact’ within our reports, policies, and strategies”.
